Have You Changed This Wi-Fi Setting?
A quick fix that can help keep your network a little more private.
By Olivia Wells, Marketer at LigTel
When’s the last time you actually looked at your Wi-Fi settings?
If your answer is “when it was installed”… you’re not alone.
But there’s one small change that can make a big difference in keeping your network secure.
The Problem
Most people leave:
- the default Wi-Fi name
- the default password
- or both
And that makes it easier for others to:
- guess access
- recognize your router type
- or try common login tricks
What You Should Do
Take 2 minutes and:
✔ Rename your Wi-Fi network
✔ Set a strong password (not “password123” 😅)
A good rule for passwords:
- At least 12 characters
- Mix of letters, numbers, symbols
- Something you’ll remember but others won’t guess
If you use our router, you can easily make changes on the CommandIQ App.
With CommandIQ App you can:
- see who’s connected
- rename your network
- pause unknown devices
…all right from your phone
Why It Matters
This isn’t just about “someone stealing your Wi-Fi.”
It helps:
- protect smart devices (cameras, TVs, etc.)
- prevent slowdowns from unknown users
- keep your home network more private and under your control
