Not all LigTel customers are eligible for our VOIP phone services. If you reside within the Ligonier Telephone Company Exchange, VOIP is not available. However, you can still enjoy our traditional phone service!

Yes, international calls are subject to an additional charge. The rates for each country, and sometimes even specific regions within a country, vary and may change annually. To get the most accurate rate for the location you’re calling, we recommend reaching out to us via phone or email. Our team can provide you with the current rates for the area you are inquiring about. Please keep in mind that international calls are also subject to additional taxes, which will be applied to your bill.

VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol)

VOIP uses your internet connection to make calls, converting your voice into digital signals. This means you get high-quality calls without the need for traditional phone lines.

Yes, you can keep your current phone number. Please do not cancel your existing service until our VOIP service is fully activated. After installation, confirm the cancellation with your previous provider.

To facilitate the porting process, LigTel will require a copy of your most recent phone bill. Please note that transferring your phone number may take up to two weeks, so being prepared is key. Here are additional steps you can take to streamline the process.

Yes, VOIP services are exclusively available with LigTel Fiber Internet. If your fiber service is terminated, your phone service will also be canceled.

Existing Fiber Internet Customers: If you already have fiber internet, we’ll likely need to replace your current router with a new one that supports VOIP. A LigTel installer will handle the activation and setup of your new phone and router. All we ask is that you decide where you’d like your new phone and router to be placed. No additional work is needed from your end. A one-time activation fee of $20 will be charged on your next bill.

New LigTel Fiber Internet & Voip Customers: Brand new LigTel customers getting fiber internet and Voip phone service will get both installed simultaneously. A one-time installation/activation fee of $95 will be charged on your first bill. This installation/activation fee is for both your internet and Voip phone service.

For a standard VOIP install the phone will be placed next to the router.

Any touch-tone analog phone will work.

No, only a LigTel router can be used with our VOIP service. An installer will replace your old router with a Calix router at no additional charge. If you need extenders, we can set up a managed Wi-Fi system and add extenders for $5 per month each.

VOIP supports 911 but may not automatically share your location and relies on internet and power. Keep your address updated and have a backup, like a mobile phone, for emergencies.

LIFELINE ASSISTANCE

LigTel Communications offers Lifeline Assistance to eligible customers.  Lifeline Assistance provides eligible residential customers with a $5.25 discount on monthly local phone service or a $9.25 discount on monthly broadband internet service when selecting a speed package of 25/3 or greater.  Exceptions may apply to the speed package, please contact LigTel Communications to inquire.  Lifeline Assistance is available to all residential customers who meet the following requirements:

  • Customers, their dependents, or their household must be participants in one of the following programs: Medicaid, SNAP, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), federal public housing assistance (Section 8) or the Veteran’s or Survivor’s Pension Benefit.
  • In addition, a customer may be eligible if his or her household income is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
