How to Reboot Your Router the Right Way

BY OLIVIA WELLS, LIGTEL MARKETER

Ever had a long day and just needed a quick break? Your router can feel the same way. After constantly juggling video calls, streaming, gaming, and smart devices, it might need a little refresh.

Try a power cycle: unplug your device, wait five seconds, and plug it back in.
This quick fix can clear up minor hiccups and improve your connection—no tech support needed.
👉 Important: Skip the reset button. That’s for trained techs and could erase your settings.

Here’s the right way to power cycle or reboot your LigTel router:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your router.
  2. Wait 5-10 full seconds. (Yes, count them! “1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi…”)
  3. Plug the power cord back in.
  4. Wait a couple of minutes until all the lights come back on.

That’s it! This quick power cycle clears out your router’s short-term memory and can often fix slow speeds, dropped Wi-Fi, or weird connection issues.

If you’re using a LigTel Calix router, these steps will work just fine. Still having issues? Give us a call—we’re happy to help!
