Grant Project Update(Oct. 2023)
In May 2022, LigTel Communications was awarded three Next Level Connections Grants by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA). These three grant projects are to bring high-speed fiber internet to a large portion of southern Noble County.
Since being awarded the grants LigTel has been working to get fiber in the ground to serve customers as quickly as we can. Construction began in October 2022 in Southeastern Noble and Southwestern Dekalb Counties, and is expected to continue until late 2024, when it wraps up in Southwestern Noble County.
The project is expected to pass nearly 4000 residential and business addresses in the grant area, bringing reliable high-speed fiber internet service to many underserved and unserved locations throughout the project area.
Construction is nearly complete in the first grant area in the Southeast portion of Noble County. With construction crews working to build fiber out in the central section of Noble County. The grant projects are a combined effort of LigTel Communications and the Lt. Governor’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs. The grant projects will be an estimated $19.2 Million investment in high-speed fiber optic broadband in Noble County.
