TECH TIP #1

TECH TIP TUESDAYS!
Every Tuesday, we’re breaking down quick, helpful info about all things tech—because let’s face it, the internet isn’t always easy to understand.
We’re kicking things off with a question we hear a lot:
Is Fiber Really Better Than Wireless?
Spoiler alert—we made the switch ourselves. So… was it worth it?
Short answer: Yes. Here’s why 👇

FIBER VS WIRELESS INTERNET
What’s really faster and more reliable?
BY OLIVIA WELLS, LIGTEL MARKETER
We get this question a lot: What’s the difference between fiber and wireless internet?
If you’re curious about what makes fiber so special, here’s a quick breakdown.
Fiber Internet
- Uses fiber-optic cables to send data as light (yep—light!)
- Offers much faster speeds—up to 8 GIG in some areas
- Upload and download speeds are the same (great for video calls, streaming, working from home, or uploading big files)
- Not affected by weather or nearby users
Wireless Internet
- Uses radio signals, so things like weather, trees, or buildings can get in the way
- Speeds can slow down when more people are online
- Upload speeds are often much lower than download speeds
- It’s a good option when fiber isn’t available, but may not handle heavy usage as well
💡 Why it matters:
If you stream, work from home, game, or just want more consistent internet—fiber is usually the better long-term choice.
Want proof?
Check out this performance comparison chart. It shows how LigTel Fiber stacks up against fixed wireless and DSL across key categories like speed, reliability, and weather impact. Fiber outperforms both by a long shot—and that’s exactly why more people are making the switch.
